Getting started

What WP Virtuoso is and what you need

What is WP Virtuoso?

WP Virtuoso connects compatible AI assistants to WordPress through a structured, permission-aware toolset. It lets you ask for real WordPress work in natural language while keeping WordPress permissions, safety controls and approval gates in the loop.

What is MCP?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that allows compatible AI clients to use external tools and data. WP Virtuoso provides a WordPress-focused MCP connection so your AI can inspect and operate your site instead of only giving you instructions.

Which AI assistants can I use with WP Virtuoso?

WP Virtuoso is designed for compatible AI and MCP clients. Depending on the client and its current connector support, this can include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini-compatible MCP workflows, Cursor, Claude Code and other MCP-capable tools. Client capabilities can differ, so WP Virtuoso does not assume every client supports every interaction in exactly the same way.

Does WP Virtuoso include an AI subscription?

No. WP Virtuoso is the WordPress connection and control layer. You use your chosen compatible AI provider separately, subject to that provider’s own plan, limits and features.

Do I need to install a WordPress plugin?

Yes. The WP Virtuoso plugin provides the secure WordPress-side capabilities, permission checks and guarded operations that the AI can use.

Which WordPress versions are supported?

WP Virtuoso currently targets modern WordPress installations and its present production surface is built around WordPress 6.9+ and the current WordPress Abilities API.

Will WP Virtuoso work on normal shared hosting?

In most cases, yes. WP Virtuoso is designed to work through WordPress itself rather than requiring general shell access. Your site needs HTTPS, a working WordPress installation, the ability to install the WP Virtuoso plugin and support for the authentication flow WP Virtuoso uses.

How long does setup take?

The normal flow is: install WP Virtuoso, connect your WP Virtuoso account, authorize WordPress with a revocable Application Password, connect your compatible AI client and start asking for work. The exact time depends on your host and AI client.

Safety & control

Giving AI access without giving away the keys

Does WP Virtuoso need my normal WordPress password?

No. WP Virtuoso uses WordPress Application Passwords for controller connections. They are separate from your normal login password and can be revoked.

Does the AI get unrestricted server access?

No. WP Virtuoso deliberately does not expose arbitrary shell execution, generic raw SQL or a permanent-delete command surface to AI clients.

Can the AI do more than my WordPress user is allowed to do?

No. WordPress capability checks still apply. WP Virtuoso does not turn a lower-permission WordPress account into an administrator.

What happens with risky changes?

Guarded operations can stop for a human approval that is bound to the exact requested payload. That means approving one operation does not create an open-ended permission for unrelated work.

Are changes recoverable?

WP Virtuoso uses recovery-friendly patterns where possible: WordPress revisions, Trash, theme sandbox restore points, guarded jobs and receipts. Some operations can still have real consequences, so normal backups remain good practice.

Can WP Virtuoso edit a theme without changing the live theme immediately?

Yes. WP Virtuoso includes a theme sandbox workflow that can clone the active theme into an inactive draft, allow supported edits, provide a private preview and keep a restore point when a draft is published.

Does WP Virtuoso keep an audit trail?

WP Virtuoso records guarded write activity and job receipts so important operations can be reviewed and diagnosed.

Does WP Virtuoso store my normal WordPress password?

No. Controller integrations use WordPress Application Password credentials rather than your normal WordPress password. Controller credentials are designed to be encrypted at rest.

WordPress compatibility

Pages, builders, plugins and stores

Does WP Virtuoso work with Gutenberg?

Yes. WP Virtuoso can inspect Gutenberg block structure and perform supported text and structural block edits.

Does WP Virtuoso work with Kadence?

Yes. Kadence and Gutenberg are among WP Virtuoso’s strongest structured editing paths, including supported Kadence page metadata.

What about Elementor, Divi, Beaver Builder, Breakdance and Bricks?

WP Virtuoso has builder-aware support rather than treating every page as plain HTML. Gutenberg/Kadence, Beaver Builder and Breakdance are in the stable support group; Elementor and Divi are currently treated as preview support; Bricks remains experimental. Capabilities can vary by builder version and task.

Can WP Virtuoso manage WooCommerce?

Yes. WP Virtuoso includes WooCommerce-aware product and catalogue workflows, including product structure snapshots, comparisons, variable-product creation, variation handling, catalogue audits and product-image workflows. Order access is deliberately more restricted than ordinary content editing.

Can WP Virtuoso work with SEO plugins?

WP Virtuoso can detect supported SEO integrations and work with SEO metadata where the active WordPress or plugin integration exposes a safe supported path. Support depends on the plugin and the capability it makes available.

Can it work with plugin abilities?

Yes. WP Virtuoso can discover and run capabilities exposed through the WordPress Abilities API, while still respecting the safety annotations and permissions attached to those abilities.

Can WP Virtuoso manage images and media?

Yes. WP Virtuoso includes media-library search and inventory tools, image QA and product-media matching workflows, plus supported upload flows. The exact workflow depends on the AI client and the type of media task.

Can it inspect performance and site health?

Yes. WP Virtuoso can expose WordPress and server diagnostics, site-health information, rendered-page inspection, performance auditing and supported Lighthouse or PageSpeed-style diagnostics.

Multi-site & automation

More than one WordPress site

Can I connect more than one WordPress site?

Yes, on plans that include more than one connected site. WP Virtuoso’s controller is built for registered-site and fleet workflows. The Free plan currently includes one connected site; higher plans increase the practical capacity available to you.

Can WP Virtuoso update several sites from one conversation?

Yes. WP Virtuoso’s fleet controller can read multi-site snapshots and dispatch guarded operations with per-site failure isolation. Long or repeated work can be handled through structured jobs rather than one fragile request.

What happens if one site in a multi-site operation fails?

WP Virtuoso is designed to isolate failures per site so one problem does not automatically invalidate the status of every other site in the run. Receipts and status information are kept so failed work can be diagnosed separately.

Can WP Virtuoso run long jobs?

Yes. WP Virtuoso supports structured batch jobs with chunking, locking, retry, cancellation and stored receipts. The available workload still depends on your plan allowance and the safety rules attached to each operation.

Pricing & usage

Plans, actions and billing

Is there a free plan?

Yes. WP Virtuoso currently offers a Free plan with 100 successful actions per rolling 24-hour window and one connected site.

What counts as a WP Virtuoso action?

A successful WP Virtuoso content or site operation counts toward your allowance. Successful approved writes count as well.

Do failed or refused operations count?

No. Rejected, failed or refused operations do not count toward the commercial action allowance.

What does rolling 24 hours mean?

Your allowance is measured across the previous 24 hours rather than resetting at midnight. As older successful actions fall outside that window, capacity becomes available again.

Can I pay yearly?

Yes. WP Virtuoso’s current yearly pricing is set at a 15% saving compared with paying the same plan monthly for twelve months.

How do I manage or cancel a paid plan?

You can cancel a paid WP Virtuoso subscription at any time through the secure WP Virtuoso account portal or Stripe Customer Portal. Cancellation stops the next renewal. Your access continues until the end of the monthly or yearly billing term you have already paid for, after which the paid plan ends unless you subscribe again.

Do you offer refunds?

Except where required by applicable law, subscription payments are non-refundable. This does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that apply to you, including statutory withdrawal or remedy rights where applicable.

Troubleshooting & support

When something does not behave as expected

What should I check if WP Virtuoso cannot connect?

Check that the site is reachable over HTTPS, WP Virtuoso is active, WordPress Application Passwords are available, your connection is still authorized and WP Virtuoso’s connection diagnostics report the site as ready.

What if my AI client suddenly stops showing WP Virtuoso tools?

First confirm the WP Virtuoso connection still exists in the AI client, then reconnect or refresh the connector if necessary. If WordPress itself remains healthy, this is often a client-session or connector discovery issue rather than a site failure.

Can I disconnect a site?

Yes. You can remove the site from the WP Virtuoso controller where supported and revoke the WordPress Application Password from WordPress. Revoking the credential immediately removes that credential’s access.

Where do I report a bug or ask for help?

Use the WP Virtuoso Support page for account questions, setup help, bug reports and feature feedback. Never include passwords, API keys, Application Passwords or licence tokens in a support submission.
